March 9, 2013AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2012 THE SOUTH-WEST LAKE MAXINKUCKEE SEWER SYSTEM IS SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETE AND FUNCTIONING. WATCH HERE FOR AN UPDATE IN MARCH 2013!
To: South West Lake Maxinkuckee Conservancy District Homeowners:
Subject: SWLMCD Update August 4, 2012
As of August 4, 2012, 95 of 156 pump installations and sewer connections are complete. We are pleased to report that with the 95 installations and connections, homeowners have experienced a minimum number of problems and issues. The sewer line and the interface with the Culver waste treatment facility are working flawlessly.
If you have not yet completed the pump installation and sewer connection, following is a summary of steps you need to take to complete the installation. This information is also available on the SWLMCD website www.swlakemaxcd.com.
1- You need to sign an access-easement document which you should have received in a mailing from the Conservancy around October of last year. This easement is to allow access to your future connection for the required inspections. This document needs to be signed and notarized. You then need to send the signed and notarized document to Kathy Clark, the Conservancy District Coordinator, PO Box 56, Culver, IN 46511. If you have lost your access-easement document, you can request a replacement by sending an email to Kathy at SWLMCD.connect@yahoo.com.
2- You need to obtain quotes for the connection of your lake house to the sewer. Whoever you choose should take care of everything including the electrical, installation of the grinder pump, connection to the sewer and disabling and making safe your existing septic. A list of bonded contractors is available on the website.
3- When you have selected a contractor, you need to complete an application to connect to the sewer. The application form can be downloaded from the website. If you don’t have access to the website you can obtain an application from Kathy at the LMEC office. Then you need to send this application with a check for the $75 application fee to Kathy Clark. The check can be made out to: SWLMCD. As a reminder, the application fee increases to $300 after October 15, 2012.
4- Once Kathy has your application, set the installation date with your contractor and authorize them to proceed.
It is a requirement that all homeowners within the Conservancy District connect to the sewer. While we anticipate all homeowners will have completed pump installation and connection by the end of 2012, commencing January 1, 2013, the District intends to levy a $50 per day fine on homeowners who have not completed the pump installation and sewer connection.
It has been a long journey, but we are now 61% complete with the end in sight. We extend our thanks to all of you who are helping the SWLMCD to complete its charter and are contributing to a more beautiful and healthier Lake Maxinkuckee.
Sincerely,
SWLMCD Board of Directors
